1st to Die by James Patterson

Rating: 5/5

Summary:

Four women, four sisters, are united in their desire to avoid a serial killer stalking newlyweds in San Francisco. Each one is in possession of a puzzle piece: Lindsay Boxer works for the San Francisco Police Department as a murder detective, Claire Washburn as a medical examiner, Jill Bernhardt as an assistant district attorney, and Cindy Thomas as a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle's crime desk.

Strengths:

This was James Patterson's first novel. It was incredible. It was able to reach out to touch my feelings, causing me to weep many times. James Patterson is a fantastic writer.

Weakness:

The only criticism I have is at the end, when it comes to the romantic interest of the main character. Quite dissatisfied. I decided to throw down the book and scream, "Forget it." But I persevered, and it turned out well, but it left me with the impression the that character would not return in the Women's Murder Club season.

My Opinion:

Patterson's ability to write fast-paced fiction is apparent as the book moves along quickly. The story leaps with extremely taut plot elements thanks to the brief chapters, but there's an emotional engagement that makes our protagonist ever more likable and engaging.
