Coraline by Neil Gaiman

Rating: 5/5

Summary:

After moving to a new home, I kid by the name of Coraline discovers a secret door in her room, behind that door is a parallel universe, mirroring the world that Coraline lives in now, but it’s way better, she meets her new mother and father, but, they don’t turn out to be as good as they seem, and they end up locking her in “ the other world “, Coraline now has to try her best to get out of that horrible world, and get back to her’s.

Strengths

The story was really original, the story structure was unique, and the characters had special characteristics. It’s a good choice for everyone, even for people who don’t like horror story’s, because this one is not too gruesome. This book can probably change someone’s mindset, it can teach people to be brave and believe in themselves, it also teaches you that having everything doesn’t mean being happy, which in my opinion, is a very good message to deliver.

Weaknesses:

I think the book skipped some explanations that the reader needed to know, there are parts in the book where you wonder why did this happen, or what caused this to happen, but it’s not always clear in the book.

Opinion:

In a way, I felt like the story was really good, it showed me how people can look and seem way different than what they actually are. I’m a horror and a Sci-fi fan, and I think this book was really good at adding just enough of horror and fiction.
