Summary:

It talks about a young girl, called Matilda, who wanted to receive education and go to school like the other children in her age. But, her father, Harry Wormwood, didn't like the idea of her being smart or going to school. Suddenly there was a change in mind and he dropped her off in the worst school possible with an evil principal, Agatha Trunchbull. She was a terrifyingly strict bully.

However, when Matilda realizes that she has the power of telekinesis, she begins to defend her friends from Trunchbull's wrath and fight back against her unkind parents.

Strengths:

That Matilda and her teacher, Miss Honey, got what they always wanted. Like for Matilda it was going to school, controlling Matilda's telekinesis and getting adopted by Miss Honey. As for Miss Honey, she got her house back and all her fathers belongings to her.

Weaknesses:

The punishments the kids received from Miss Trunchbull, it was very harsh for kids suitable to read the book. They may hate the idea of going to school or be scared of the principal, they may create a punishment room (the chokey) and pretend its a real room. And last but not least, twirling children round by their plaits in the playground and forcing them to eat a whole enormous chocolate cake. These were her punishment which will give children either reading the book or watching the movie a bad thought of playing around or pretending to do so with other children.

My Opinion:

This book is amazing. There is a lot of fantastic creative imagination. My favorite part was when Matilda used her power to move the chalk around and pretend as if there is a ghost of her dead brother warning her about what he can do to her. I learnt kindness, bravery, and diligence from Matilda. Matilda provides a strong message to children: You can do it. Plus a message to grown-ups: Treat your children nicely, as they're not as helpless as you may imagine.
