Number the Stars by Lois Lowry

Rating: 4/5

Summary:

This is a tale of perseverance and optimism. The year is 1943, and Copenhagen, Denmark is the setting. Hitler's army has taken control of the city. Soldiers can be seen everywhere. Annemarie's life has changed dramatically since she was ten years old. There isn't any food, and everyone is terrified.

Strengths:

'Number the Stars' was the second book we listened to on my latest multi-generational girls road trip. I could not have made a smarter decision. This was a suspenseful, educational, and emotional novel.

Weakness:

Although the novel is too short, it is well-written and well-paced. Characters and setting are written in a rather realistic manner. It is not, however, a character-driven novel.

My Opinion:

This is a book that is based on fact. It's focused on historical evidence. It is simple to comprehend, unlike other historical literature. This book might be useful for you if you already know a lot about World War II. If you don't know much about the World Wars, it's not a good idea to watch it.
