Rating: 5/5

Summary:

Simon Kelleher has a particular talent for uncovering the secrets of his fellow students at Bayview High School. He uses a gossip app he created called About That to spread these secrets as well as rumors. One day, Simon and four other seniors find themselves in detention. But Simon never makes it out of the detention room. Before the end of detention Simon's dead. And according to investigators, his death wasn't an accident, which makes all four of them suspects in his murder.

Strengths of the story:

This novel appealed to me because it delves into the characters and thoughts of each suspect, keeping the reader wondering until the very end. Overall, One of Us is Lying is an interesting and unexpected novel that was hard to put down. I particularly enjoyed how each character's point of view was described in detail so that the reader was not left out of the story. Anyone who enjoys murder mysteries and young adult novels will enjoy this book.

Weaknesses of the story:

if I could change anything from the book it would be the ending, The ending was a little irritating I would have liked it if the ending was more interesting and surprising, it was expected a bit and I would have also liked it if the writer included more of Simon's life

My opinion of the story:

The ending was a little irritating because it wasn't so surprising that you wouldn't consider it at least once while reading, but it will also make you a little tired from the mind-changing facts constantly being thrown at you.
