Summary:
The film Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry is about the Logan family, who were African-American farmers in Mississippi in the 1930s. The Logans fight against bigotry to preserve their land and families together. When the story begins, Cassie Logan, nine years old, is walking to her first day of school.
Strengths
This book covers the topics of racial injustice in the 1930s, I enjoyed everything about this book, even though the plot isn't real or based on a true story, it still feels like something that could happen today. I learned a lot about racism and injustice in the system, and how people were treated differently and torched simply because of their skin color. It doesn't make sense to me, and the worst part is that it's still a major issue today.
Weaknesses:
This story has no flaws, but the conclusion was sad and heartbreaking: the farm was burned down, the Lagans lost everything, and there was nothing they could do.
My Opinion:
I really like this book, and I learnt a lot just from reading the first few pages, so it's both instructive and realistic, which makes it even better and more unique.
