Summary:
This addictively gripping and exciting tale is difficult to put down due to neighborhood gossip and dark secrets. There has been a rash of break-ins in a small subdivision where everybody knows everybody. A teen has been breaking into people's homes and gaining access to their laptops. Secrets have been revealed. And a neighbor's body is discovered in her car's attic. Is it possible that the revealed secrets would reveal who committed the murder? What secrets will be exposed and who will remain hidden? Is everyone in the area safe?
Strengths:
The author's use of foreshadowing keeps the reader on his/her toes, and the characterizations are brilliant. We grow to care for the main characters and feel as if we know them.... the reader develops an emotional attachment to the result.
Weaknesses:
There aren't many inconsistencies in this classic novel to find out. If I were to choose one, it would be the abundance of imagery... but imagery is sorely lacking in contemporary literature that I hesitate to even bring it up. The only other fault I can think of is the novel's late start. Many people, I think, abandon the novel before it even starts.
My Opinion:
Reason you should read it: break ins & murder that cause a lot of secrets to come out & plot twists you'd never expect.. It is so good. Everything about this novel leaves me on the edge of my seat, anticipating and wondering what will happen next. The anticipation in this story gripped me from the first page and didn't let go until the end. It's a fast-paced, engrossing novel that made me wary of any single character.
