Rating: 4/5
Summary:
A young girl has unique abilities, but they do not bring her joy. Instead, she's studied and handled like a test animal (who could attack her guardians at any time...).
Strengths:
A good book is well-written, with proper words, engaging characters, and a logical storyline, among other things. MR Carey accomplishes all of this in The Girl with All the Gifts.
Weakness:
I expected it to be scarier, but it wasn't...the cool thing was that it was about kids...usually zombies are adults, but not in this novel. It is focused on how the children are still alive but have been affected.
My Opinion:
This was a fantastic novel for me. I had to press though because it had a little bit of both to sell and held me on edge. This is the first book I've read in a long time that didn't spend a lot of time on the romantic interest.
