Summary:
Olivia Laing talks about what it is like to be lonely in a city surrounded by people. She has lived in New York City for a certain period of time by herself, and during that time she felt extremely lonely.
Strengths
I liked how the author linked loneliness with art and how she explained it to her as a good thing some people may fear. She used many artists experienced loneliness as examples in the book, which inspired me to look up the artists and get more educated about them.
Weaknesses:
There was no weaknesses and I wouldn't change anything in the book. The ideas was organized to be understood, she did use clear language and words that will let you feel how she felt when she was lonely.
Opinion:
Yes, I do agree. Because the way she explained loneliness as an act of art was impressive because most of the time when we mention being lonely we get the feeling of fear, but she wrote it as something that should be normalized, and that we don't always need someone to be with us to be ourselves.
