Rating: 5/5

Summary:

In a very far future, teenagers are put in a giant box with their memories wiped, where they are imported into a stone maze. Thomas (the main character) was one of many before him that was put in the maze. In order to survive, the teenagers sort themselves into groups. Some build shelters and make food, while the runners run through the maze and map it all day. They don't run through the maze at night because "Grievers" (monsters) walk through the maze and hunt whoever is still inside when the entrance to the maze closes. As Thomas arrives, he discovers that they have all been here for 3 years with no way out, he helps them all get a way out by the "Grievers" entrance to the maze.

Strengths:

The story is very thrilling and exciting. I liked almost everything about it because the author grabs the readers attention in every part of the story. I especially liked the part where Thomas goes in and helps one of the runners who isn’t able to walk to the exist before the doors close, by risking his life.

Weaknesses:

I didn’t like that the ending was incomplete, meaning that there is another book continuing the story, as it is a series consisting of five books.

My Opinion:

I personally loved the story, that's why I finished it in less than my normal reading time. The book had certain elements that made it very thrilling and made me want to know what happens next. I agree with all the author's decisions in the book but one, which is the ending because even though I would love to read the next book, I was very excited to know the ending the whole time I was reading and it gave me a cliffhanger. But overall the book has to be one of the best I've read so far.
