Things to Do Before the End of the World by Emily Barr

Rating: 4/5

Summary:

Olivia, the main character, is a teenager who suffers from severe social anxiety. She regrets the fact that she never truly got to live because of her fear as the world is ready to end due to harsh weather patterns. So, with the guidance of her newfound cousin, Natasha, she sets out to cross off some of the items on her bucket list before the end of the world.

Strengths of the story:

I liked how this story stuck in my mind, forcing me to consider what I would do if I knew the precise day the world would end. I like that it makes me think hard about myself and society as a whole, and that it makes me wonder of the changes I would make if the world were ending and the improvements I should be making right now.

Weaknesses of the story:

I didn't like the fact that there were no scientific explanations for what was going on or that there was so little knowledge regarding the end of the world.
