We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Updated: Mar 16, 2021

Rating: 5/5

Summary:

Cadence can't recall the memory loss tragedy that killed her cousins. In bits and pieces, she recalls Summer Fifteen. She recalls that Clairmont was burnt down by the Liars because they were sick of their mothers battling over the house, and recalls that the dogs of her grandparents died in the blast. She didn't remember that they were dead until she visited her aunt.

Strengths:

It's based on the affluent, seemingly beautiful Sinclair family, who gather each summer on their private island. The book focuses on family values and how someone's mistakes can lead to death.

Weaknesses:

The ending was surprisingly shocking and sad, it affects your emotion and it is unbelievable. But, I would never think that it will be better with another ending, because it all just make sense.

My Opinion:

In my opinion, reading the book by Cady's point of view was amazing. I liked how the author didn't mention the accident at first. She kept the truth to the end chapters, and this is why I didn't stop reading the book. I like the book a lot and it has an amazing plot.
