Summary:
You, is a story about a man called Joe who is a psychotic stalker who is obsessed with a girl. That girl is called Beck. Joe met Beck at a bookstore he works at, and he introduced himself, asked her name, went home to do a deep search about her. And started stalking her not only online, but by also finding out where she lives and watching her window everyday. Joe discovered that he had feelings for her but there was already a man in her life, so he did the impossible to make her fall in love with him; by the impossible I mean murder. Joe was so obsessed with Beck that he killed someone. Joe continues trying to get Beck to fall in love with him, but will she find out about the murder?
Strengths:
It was very thrilling and suspenseful, it was unique because it kept the reader's attention through the whole story, from the first sentence to the last one. It gave me chills the whole time I was reading. My favourite character is Beck's friend that was figuring out his little act of normal guy.
Weaknesses:
It was very frightening, it gets a person paranoid and very creeped out. Joe was a very odd character with many characteristics, which added more intensity to the story but was too fictional. This is my first time reading this type of book, but it felt too made up. So, what I would change is adding realistic touches to make it believable and even more horrifying.
My Opinion:
The story was one of a kind, despite my criticism to Joe's character and the book, it left me speechless. The story had me always on my feet from one thing to the other. Yes, some parts were very unsettling, but it was suspenseful and thrilling and it was horrific and intriguing at the same time. This is my first time reading a serial killer book, but I would say this is the perfect one. It was a good weekend read but I don't recommend reading it if you are paranoid easily or don't like very deep descriptions of unsettling things (murder).
