Your Life In My Hands by Rachel Clarke

Rating: 4/5

Summary:

Many people aspire to be a nurse or a doctor who specializes in a particular field of medicine, but no one prepares them for the realities of working on the front lines, caring for patients and coping with the most stressful circumstances that only a doctor can encounter. Every patient is different, and not every patient is understanding; in fact, some patients can be quite rude. The author bases this novel on a doctor's point of view in the healthcare system (How they deal with patients, break them news, lack social crisis, face high expectations, etc.)

Strengths

Rachel's writes in her book are intelligent, and her writing style makes it seem as if she's right there with you, speaking directly to you, like a doctor. Rachel Clarke's book, Your Life in My Hands gave me a real sense of what it's like to work in the Healthcare system.

Weaknesses:

I expected the book to be fully medicine related, but somehow the author got politics involved which made the plot a bit twisted and toxic. I believe removing the politics will make the novel much fun to read.

My Opinion:

As a person who is aspiring to study medicine, I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in studying anything medicine related. I believe this book gave me a glimpse on what is really happening to both sides in the healthcare systems, which is important to know before studying medicine field.
