Continue the Story: Edith's News

“Edith! Come downstairs, I have some news for you!”

Why is mom calling me downstairs? I’m sure I haven’t done anything, hang on, did she mention news? What kind of news, is it from school? I remember entering a couple competitions, but the results shouldn’t be coming out this early, or maybe it’s personal news? I hurry downstairs to meet my mom to receive this news. "Mom, Sarah told me that u have news for me?"

"Yes, I do! Your teacher told me u haven’t been behaving in class, you have been talking to your friends and haven’t been doing your assignments and homework!"

"Mom I haven’t, I have been listening and I haven’t been talking!"

"Then why did your teacher message me?"

"Um, I don’t know?"

"Edith u have to focus in class so you can pass and continue to achieve your dreams, not sitting around and talking in class!"

"Okay mom, next time I will focus and behave in class and do my homework and assignments and stop talking to my friends."

"That's my daughter, that’s how in like you."

"Okay mom, I will go do my homework’s and assignments."

*after exams*

"Mom, did my marks come out?"

"Let me check." *checks marks*

"You passed the exams, you got full A!" *celebrates*

"Yay, I passed!"

"You did it Edith, you passed, I am so happy for you!"

"Thank you mom for helping me out in hard times."

"You are so welcome."

*A few years later*

"Eric, mom wants you down stairs."

"Oh no, did I do my homework and finish my assignments" *Goes down stairs*

"Mom?"

"Your teacher called me today and said that you haven’t been focusing in class and talking and you also did not do your homework or assignments!"

"Mom, I have been focusing in class and not talking to my friends..."

"Eric, when I was young like you I haven’t been focusing and been failing my grades, then my teacher called my mom and told her that I have not been focusing in class and I have been talking to my friends, also that I have not been doing my homework or assignments, but my mom told me that I have to focus in class and stop talking to my friends and do my homework and assignments to pass and reach to my goals."

*Eric smiles* "Okay mom, I will focus in class and stop talking in class and do my homework and assignments, thank you for believing in me. I love you mom."

"I love you too Eric."

A few years later Eric passes tests and Edith’s moms words keeps going to generation to generations...
