Continue the Story: Edith's News

“Edith! Come downstairs, I have some news for you!”

Why is mom calling me downstairs? I’m sure I haven’t done anything, hang on, did she mention news? What kind of news, is it from school? I remember entering a couple competitions, but the results shouldn’t be coming out this early, or maybe it’s personal news? I hurry downstairs to meet my mom to receive this news...“Edith I have some wonderful news sweetie!” I wonder what mom has to say, Edith wondered to herself, “You’ve got the scholarship!” her mom said with joy, “That’s amazing, I’m so happy!” Edith said, “Let’s go out to eat lunch to celebrate!” Her mom said, “Sure, let me just get my phone!” she soon headed back to her room.

“Ring Ring!!” Her mom’s phone was suddenly ringing, she then picked her moms phone up and answered “Hello?” Edith said, “Hello this is the medical center we are calling to see if you have found a kidney donation for your appointment tomorrow to treat your kidney failure.” Edith’s eyes widened in shock, she soon responded, “Hello, I am her daughter and I would like to donate my kidney to my mom.” “Are you sure about that?” “Yes I’m sure.” “Okay, You should come tomorrow at 5pm to donate it.” The medical staff thanked her and hung up.

Soon Edit and her mom were at a fancy restaurant eating, they later than finished their food “Mom thank you for this, I love you.” “I love you too sweetie.” The mom replied. Next thing you know the mom was in the hospital, she slowly opened her eyes, “What happened?” “Congratulations Ma’am your kidney surgery was a success!” The surgeon replied. “Really who donated their kidney?” The mom asked wondering. “Your daughter Edith, but unfortunately she passed away during the donation.” “No! You’re lying!” The mom then sobbed hysterically.

*Fast forward 11 months later*

“Ma’am what would you like to name your child?” The nurse asked. “Edith, Edith’s her name.” The mom replied with a smile on her face looking at her newborn daughter...
