I was in eighth grade and it was sports day at school. I was never excellent at sports as a child. I came in dead last in running, cycling, and practically every other event. Our sports instructor declared that it was time for the shotput, after I had disgraced myself in front of the entire school for over an hour or two. I quickly realized that this was my moment to shine; I had previously thrown a shot put and was competent. I just wanted to save some face and return home with my head held high.
I got the last throw out of nearly ten kids. I approached the place, and the teacher, who was holding the microphone, asked me a few questions about my shotput history and how far I expected the shotput to land. I replied that I hoped to place second or third out of ten students. She went away after handing me the shotput. I got ready, grabbed the shotput in my hand, and positioned myself to throw it. I took the ball, prepared myself, and used all of my might to toss it.
And when I threw it, I let out the loudest fart anyone has ever heard. Everyone, including our physical education instructor, burst out laughing. I went away without saying anything. After that happened, I was unable to attend school for more than a week.
