"Edith! Come downstairs, I have some news for you!"

Why is mom calling me downstairs? I'm sure I haven't done anything, hang on, did she mention news?

What kind of news, is it from school? I remember entering a couple competitions, but the results shouldn't be coming out this early, or maybe it's personal news? I hurry downstairs to meet my mom to receive this news...

I reached the bottom of the stairs and saw my mom waiting for me with a big smile. "Sit down, Edith," she said, pointing to a chair. "I got a phone call today, and I have exciting news to share with you."

My heart started pounding, and I couldn't help but feel excited. "What is it, Mom?" I asked, eager to know.

She took a deep breath and said, "You won the creativity contest at school!" I couldn't believe my ears. My entry was just submitted a few weeks ago, and I never thought I could actually win. "No way!" my eyes were widening in shock.

Mom nodded, her smile getting even bigger. "Yes, you did it, Edith! Your creativity and talent impressed everyone. I'm so proud of you." A mix of joy and relief washed over me. Winning this contest was a big deal, and it made me feel really good about myself. It showed that my hard work and dedication paid off.

In the following days, people congratulated me left and right. Friends, teachers, and even strangers noticed my artwork and praised me for it. The local newspaper even wanted to write an article about young artists in our community and feature me.
